
Nancy E. Quinn has been working in arts management for more than 25 years. She received
her MBA in Arts Administration from the UCLA Anderson School of Management in 1983,
completing a two-year course of study and a six-month internship in the development office at
New York City Ballet under the artistic direction of George Balanchine. After business school,
she gained extensive managerial and fundraising experience in the arts through her
managerial work with the Sequoia String Quartet Foundation, Chamber Music America, the San
Francisco Conservatory of Music, and San Francisco Performances.
Nancy is the founder of Quinn Associates, which since 1988 has provided an extensive array of
arts administration and fundraising services for Bay Area non-profits, with a special focus on
small and mid-sized performing arts organizations. Clients have included the San Francisco Film
Society, The Crucible, ODC Theater, Dimensions Dance Theater, Freight & Salvage, El Campanil
Theatre, Cartoon Lamplighters Music Theatre, Cypress String Quartet, Dancers’ Group, First
Voice, San Francisco Art & Film Program for Teens, Theatre Bay Area, Word for Word, Yerba
Buena Arts & Events, and Z Space Studio, among many others.
In 2003, QA began offering an expanded array of services to the community, including public
relations, individual giving campaigns, meeting facilitation, strategic marketing planning,
prospect research, board development, and strategic and business planning. Nancy is herself
widely sought-after as a grantwriter, organizational consultant, and executive coach. She is
also active as a teacher in the field of arts administration, having served as Adjunct Faculty
Member at the California College of the Arts during the 2006-2007 academic year. She teaches
regularly for the Center for Cultural Innovation.
