In the 1990s, Mary Jo worked as the Health Officer for Europe and Eurasia at the U.S. Agency
for International Development (USAID) in Washington, DC where she provided leadership to
ensure that health programs were established and operational in fourteen countries of Eastern

foundation and corporate donors; and geographic sites providing services to vulnerable and
disenfranchised populations doubled. Prior to working in Marin County, Mary Jo was Executive
Director of Planned Parenthood of Cambria/Somerset in Johnstown, PA.
