Since 1997, Eleanor A. Smith & Associates (www.eleanorasmith.com) has helped nonprofits and

John Kenyon is a nonprofit technology strategist who has been helping nonprofits for over 15 years
by providing advice, teaching and writing about effective uses of technology. He earned his B.S. at
Emerson College in Boston before moving to California. In the late 90’s he was Information
Technology Director at San Francisco’s Management Center. Along with Michael Stein he wrote both
The eNonprofit: a guide to ASPs, internet services and online software and the Nonprofit Quarterly
article A Decade of Online Fundraising. John served as Training and Consulting Manager at
Groundspring.org/Network for Good, helping organizations effectively use the Internet, before
returning to private practice in 2005. He is an adjunct professor for the University of San Francisco’s
Masters of Nonprofit Administration degree program at the Institute for Nonprofit Management. He
has developed sessions presented at institutions of higher learning including University of California
at Berkeley, Duke University, Robert Morris University, King’s College, London and Queensland
University of Technology in Brisbane, Australia. John’s consulting practice concentrates on strategic
uses of appropriate technologies with a focus on leveraging the internet. He has been a featured
